In June 2022, our AstroMat team had the opportunity to present two talks at the hybrid Planetary Science Informatics and Data Analytics Conference (PSIDA 2022).

Juan David Figueroa, AstroMat Application Developer, gave the talk entitled: “Maintaining Microservices: Applications for the Astromaterials Data System”. Figueroa showcased the development of AstroMat’s micro-service architecture that prioritizes users and community members.

AstroMat Systems Engineer, Peng Ji, spoke on “The Astromat Synthesis: a data pipeline to generate analysis ready data following FAIR principles“. Ji highlighted the latest developments for the AstroMat synthesis database analysis-ready data following the FAIR principles.

On Monday, March 7th, 2022, AstroMat Project Director, Kerstin Lehnert and Project Manager, Jennifer Mays presented a poster at the 2022 Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in session (M204): Analysis and Curation of Pristine Returned Samples from Ryugu, Bennu, and More. The presentation highlighted features of AstroMat in the context of new NASA strategy for Open Data. Introducing New Synthesis Search

If you’re heading to LPSC25, make sure to join us on Monday at 12:00PM CST for the Astromat Workshop. The two main topics will be 1) data submission to Astromat in compliance with SPD-41A, and 2) introduction to AstroSearch v4, our newly upgraded synthesis search app! Using AstroSearch v4 will make your search of the Astromat Synthesis database faster, simpler, and more transparent—helping you get to the data you need with fewer steps and greater control.

We will have snacks and drinks to keep you going (not quite lunch, but enough to keep you fueled!).

We will host community workshops at LPSC25 and MetSoc25 next year that will focus on training for data management and data archiving, and on guidance for the use of the Astromat synthesis. We also plan to offer repository help desk services both in conjunction with relevant in-person conferences and through a series of webinars next year. Select OSIRIS-REx Sample Data Now Available in Astromaterials Data Archive

Data from the initial analyses of asteroid Bennu by the OSIRIS-REx Sample Analysis Team are now available in the Astromaterials Data Archive (ADA). Approximately 100 datasets are now accessible to download out of the ~500 datasets received to date. As future OREx publications are released, the associated datasets in ADA will be made publicly accessible.

Our team is planning a series of webinars starting Fall 2024 on archiving your data and accessing data through Astromat. Stay tuned here for the dates and registration information.
